Since our first upload, YouTube has strived to give everyone a voice. Over the past eight years, we’ve been inspired and amazed by the ways that people have used YouTube to broadcast their message, empower their community, and even catalyze social change.
The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community on YouTube is a shining example of this. YouTube is a place where LGBT people and their families, friends and supporters can create awesome entertainment, share stories, and change the world.
From the hilarious to the heartfelt, our creators know how to make an impact. Check out this new video highlighting some of the amazing ways the LGBT community has come together on YouTube:
In time for a series of Pride parades and celebrations around the world, YouTube celebrates this historic Pride Month by showcasing a great collection of LGBT-themed videos on the YouTube Spotlight channel. We hope you’ll join in the global spirit of Pride by uploading a video to YouTube responding to the question: Who, what, or why are you #ProudToLove? (Please be sure to include #ProudToLove in the title so others can find your video!)
At YouTube, we’re proud to stand with the LGBT community to support equal rights and marriage equality--we believe that everyone has the right to love and be loved. Pride Month may be coming to a close, but we hope YouTube is a place where you can feel proud and build a community all year long.

Congratulations to starofmay, our On The Rise featured partner for June
Congratulations to Kristina Werner, our featured “On The Rise” partner for June 2013. Her channel, starofmay, is featured today on the YouTube Spotlight channel as well as our On The Rise homepage.
With a background in graphic design, Kristina has always had an eye for aesthetics. Her channel hosts more than 500 videos dedicated to cardmaking and multimedia craft projects. Kristina’s videos contain eye-catching and easy-to-follow instructions as she teaches viewers the nuance in homemade card design. You can learn how to create a card using leftover ribbons and scraps or how different crafting tools and supplies compare. Love the idea of handcrafted cards, but worried that your chicken scratch might make it turn out like a doctor’s prescription pad? Fear not--Kristina even has videos that will help make your handwriting worthy of the elegant cards you create. Learn more about Kristina’s channel and watch some of her other favorite videos below.
And here are some words from Kristina directly:

The very first video I posted on YouTube was a knot-tying video way back in October 2007, which was later re-uploaded with different audio. (Be nice!) Who knew where that would lead to six years later! To this day I think video is the best way to teach and share the cardmaking process, and YouTube has allowed me and thousands of other papercrafters the opportunity to share our love of cardmaking with people all over the world! We crafters are a friendly and creative bunch, and I'm so happy to share cardmaking with even more people. I want to thank each and every one of my subscribers for their support. You guys are awesome! If you’ve enjoyed this monthly blog series and are interested in learning more or participating, we encourage you to visit our On The Rise homepage. You can find out about all of our past featured partners on the Featured Partners tab, or nominate a YouTube partner to be considered for the program on the Nominate tab. Feel free to submit nominations for your own channel, or for channels you follow that you think deserve more attention or could be the next YouTube sensation. We’ll continue to feature promising partners who drive YouTube watch time, have fewer than 100,000 subscribers, and produce engaging content on a regular basis.

This Thursday: Robin Thicke and Jenna Marbles live from the YouTube Space LA
Be still, pretty lil’ heart: this Thursday at 1:30 p.m. PT, musical artist Robin Thicke will perform live from our very own YouTube Space LA. And just when you thought the event couldn’t get hotter: YouTube comedienne Jenna Marbles will be there, too.
This event, which will be live streamed at www.youtube.com/interscope, is part of a new “Interscope Introducing” series bringing emerging musical artists and YouTube creators together for a unique entertainment experience.
We’re crossing our fingers for some Blurred Lines (which is already burning up the music charts this summer!). And who knows what other YouTube creators will make a cameo or two?
Upcoming live performances in the series include artists such as The 1975, Jessie Ware and more, so stay tuned for information on more music events live from the YouTube Space LA!
Ali Rivera, West Coast Head Artist Label Relations, recently watched "Jason Derulo & Tyler Ward - The Other Side (Acoustic Version)" and Craig McFadden, Artist and Label Relations, recently watched "#SplitsOnTrees by Todrick Hall."

Meet your On The Rise nominees for June
In our monthly On The Rise program, we identify four partners whose channels drive significant YouTube watch time but haven’t yet reached the 100,000 subscriber mark. Your interest has helped us find four partners who are getting closer to that milestone. They’re already driving a lot of watch time for YouTube, and you can help them grow their channels and audiences even more. It’s June, which means school is out, but our nominees this month could each teach you something new: learn how to coat your car in plastic, how to make an original greeting card, what happens when you add water to a super-absorbent polymer, or when to use “a lot” versus “allot” (versus “lots”).
Here’s where you come in--you actually have the chance to help push these partners even further on YouTube. Review their videos below, vote for your favorite here, and one of these candidates will have the opportunity to be featured across YouTube later this month. In addition to your votes, each channel will be evaluated on criteria such as viewer engagement and channel optimization techniques to decide which partner we’ll feature.
In past months, featured On The Rise partners like ManjulasKitchen and hauntedsunshinegirl have gained many subscribers and seen their careers take off, in large part due to your support. This month’s poll will be open until June 11, 5 p.m. PT, so don’t forget to vote for your favorite channel. Check back to see which channel will be featured on June 28.
DipYourCarcom
If you’ve ever considered modifying your car’s paint job, powder-coating it, or changing the look of your hubcaps, you might be interested in DipYourCarcom. The channel features all manner of how-to videos, including how to apply Plasti Dip to your car, wheels or grille.

Need a card for an upcoming birthday or special occasion? Learn how to make your own with one of Kristina’s card-making tutorials. She studied graphic design and has even designed some stamps for crafting companies in the past, so she definitely knows what she’s doing.
IncredibleScience
Jason’s channel is full of fun and educational videos of science experiments, toys and projects. Watch him demonstrate a variety of scientific concepts like photovoltaics and polyacrylate water absorption, to name a few.
EnglishTeacherEmma
Emma is TESOL-certified and has been an ESL teacher for several years. On YouTube, she uploads videos that teach students (and even life-long English speakers) about everything from basic grammar to the intricate idiosyncrasies of the English language.
If you’re interested in participating or have suggestions for partners you think should be featured, we encourage you to visit our On The Rise homepage. You can check out all of our past featured partners on the Featured Partners tab, or nominate a YouTube partner to be considered for the program on the Nominate tab. Feel free to submit nominations for your own channel, or for channels you follow that you think deserve more attention or could be the next YouTube sensation. Congratulations to hauntedsunshinegirl, our May On The Rise featured partner
Congratulations to Sunshine of hauntedsunshinegirl, our featured “On The Rise” partner for May 2013. You can find Sunshine’s channel and videos in the spotlight across YouTube today, including on our new On The Rise homepage.
Sunshine began documenting paranormal activity several years ago, when she and her mother moved into a “haunted” house. Sunshine’s channel has evolved from simply exposing the spooky apparitions who haunt her home: she’s even recorded a real-life paranormal investigation into the situation. Sunshine also produced a feature film to illustrate her own exploration to find and understand “Black Eyed Kids.” This channel follows more of a storyline than many YouTube channels, so be prepared to get caught up in the mysterious activity at Sunshine’s house.
Here are a few words directly from Sunshine:

Huge thanks to everyone who voted for me for On the Rise! I am so honored and excited to be a part of this amazing group of YouTubers that have been featured in the past. YouTube is such a huge part of my life and I love that more viewers will get to see the videos I work so hard to make! If you are not familiar with my channel, it might be slightly different than what you are used to. I have hundreds of mostly creepy, often hilarious videos about the paranormal world. But that’s not all ... I even have some zombie videos! If you’ve enjoyed this monthly On The Rise blog series, we encourage you to check out our new On The Rise homepage. YouTube Comedy Week’s very important personalities
What do you get when you combine world-famous comedians with the world’s biggest video-sharing site? OK, you guessed it: YouTube Comedy Week. But Comedy Week is about a lot more than simply bringing together comedy’s best and brightest for an online celebration of funny.
This week we also connected with YouTube’s biggest comedy fans. We decided to shine our spotlight on seven "Super Fans": Zach, Christine, Mavis, Lo, Jesse, Mike and Jack (the 14-year-old "Britain’s Got Talent" comedian whose first YouTube video got more than 3 million views).
To thank these loyal YouTubers for being so awesome, we brought them to L.A. to be part of the Big Live Comedy Show on Sunday, May 19. We gave them a special VIP experience that included a glamorous walk down the Red Carpet, a backstage tour, and tickets to the Big Live Comedy Show and the after party.
The Super Seven dropped everything and flew in from all over the country (and world) to attend: the U.K., New Jersey, South and North Carolina, and Washington state. They came together for their love of YouTube comedy, and they were not disappointed. The day was full of smiles, vines, tweets and videos as they met their favorite comedians, including (but not limited to!) Smosh, Hannibal Buress, Reggie Watts, JASH, Tim and Eric, Skrillex and "Workaholics." At the end of the night, they tore up the dance floor with countless Comedy Week performers.
Wish you could’ve been there too? Don’t get us wrong, we love ALL our comedy fans, and we’re still looking for more YouTubers to show us just how much they love laughing … from the comfort of their own home. Want to be involved with Comedy Week? Here’s how:
